The following data series categories are available via API from Norges Bank’s data warehouse:

• Interest rates, incl. policy rate
• Exchange rates
• Government debt
• Banks' liquidity 
• Regional network (survey of enterprises and organisations about economic developments)

Tips for using Norges Bank's data warehouse and API

Utilising our query builder tool, you can extract data series according to your specifications. Choose "API" after selecting the type of information to fine-tune your choices of format, scope and desired time period. 

Excel and CSV format 

It is also possible to extract time series from the API in Excel and CSV file format. Replacing excel-both (which is the default choice) in the url with excel-ts will result in time series formatted data (ts), i.e. one time series per row. With excel-both, there is one observation in the series per row in the Excel sheet. 

Example for exchange rates: 

https://data.norges-bank.no/api/data/EXR/B.USD.NOK.SP?format=excel-both&startPeriod=2023-05-15&endPeriod=2024-05-15&locale=no

can be replaced with:

https://data.norges-bank.no/api/data/EXR/B.USD.NOK.SP?format=excel-ts&startPeriod=2023-05-15&endPeriod=2024-05-15&locale=no 

Similarly, csv  can be replaced with csv-ts to achieve a similar result for CSV files.
