Nicolai Tangen reappointed as CEO of NBIM for a second five-year term
Norges Bank’s Executive Board has decided to renew Nicolai Tangen’s term as CEO of Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM).
Nicolai Tangen has been CEO of NBIM since September 2020 and will serve another five years from 1 September 2025.
“Nicolai Tangen is highly experienced with in-depth insight into international investment management. Over the past four and a half years, he has demonstrated a strong ability to deliver and achieve solid results as CEO of NBIM. In the view of the Executive Board, Nicolai Tangen is the right person to head NBIM in the years ahead. We are pleased that he has accepted a further term as CEO,” says Chair of the Executive Board Ida Wolden Bache.

Nicolai Tangen holds a degree in finance from Wharton School of Finance and master’s degrees in Social Psychology from the London School of Economics and in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute of Art. Before his first term as CEO of NBIM, he was CEO of AKO Capital, a firm he founded in 2005.
Nicolai Tangen’s contract of employment for the term commencing 1 September 2025 will be based on his existing contract, which can be viewed here.
